School Information
We've also been working with the pupils in Ferryside primary school to tell them about the global challenges, and how these can be addressed at a local level.
In October 2009 we held a workshop with the older pupils on climate change, and Cerith Rhys Jones - the Welsh Assembly Government's Climate Change Champion - came along to give a presentation and what the future holds for our young people.
The pupils worked together to draw pictures of what they like about Ferryside, and how they would like to see it develop in the next decade.
They had some good ideas about developing services. The school has recently been awarded with the Eco schools Green Flag, and it seemed that a lot of the pupils already knew the importance of being green.
We also worked out the average Ecological Footprint for the class - it showed that if we all lived the way they lived, we'd need 2.8 planets! Let's hope that this will decrease once the Living Carmarthenshire campaign has taken place.
The school also took part in the Living Carmarthenshire Launch event on Monday 2nd November - they gave a presentation and sang a song about why we should look after our planet.
On Wednesday 18th November, they took part in a Walk to School activity with the council's Road Safety team and mascot Gary Gosafe.
